Pressure Care
This course has been designed for Disability Support Workers, who as part of their role, provide care to clients at risk of pressure injuries.
The course will cover
Understanding the structure of the skin and underlying tissue
Discussing the factors that increase the risk of pressure injuries
Outlining the body areas most at risk of pressure injury development
Describing the 6 stages of pressure injuries
Explaining strategies which can be implemented to reduce the risk or development of pressure injuries, including skin risk assessment such as Braden Scale
Explaining the main methods of pressure injury wound care
Assessment and prevention strategies to reduce the risk of pressure injuries
